DIVE is the first and only rooftop bar in Coronado. It's perched three stories above The Bower Coronado at 1417 Orange Avenue, with panoramic views from Point Loma to Baja California. It serves California coastal cuisine and craft cocktails all day, and it's open to hotel guests and the public alike. It's the island's best seat for sunset.
For a town as beloved as Coronado, one thing was always missing: a rooftop. Until DIVE. Opened atop The Bower in 2025, it's the island's first and only rooftop bar, and it quickly became the place to be when the light goes gold.
A view you can't get anywhere else in Coronado
Three stories up may not sound like much until you're standing there. From DIVE, the view sweeps a full panorama: Point Loma to the north, the shimmer of the Pacific to the west, and the coastline trailing south toward Baja California. Because nothing else in Coronado rises to meet it, the sightlines are entirely DIVE's own. Sunset here isn't a moment you catch; it's the whole show.
The vibe: elevated, but never stuffy
DIVE carries The Bower's calm, natural aesthetic upstairs and adds a little personality. Clean lines and neutrals warmed by moody maroon and bluish-teal, with midcentury touches. Behind the bar hangs a vintage neon "Villa Capri" sign, a nod to the property's original 1950s name and its Hollywood-heyday glamour. It's an intimate 65-seat space, which keeps the energy easy and the sunsets personal. The goal, as our team puts it, is to be approachable and fun, and elevated and sophisticated, at the same time.
What to eat and drink at DIVE
DIVE is a full California coastal restaurant, not just a bar, and the menu changes with the day:
- Morning: superfood-forward breakfasts — think matcha bowls and a bright lemon-and-lox tartine, best enjoyed with a Fellows pour-over.
- Midday: shareable lunch plates, crisp salads, sandwiches, and fish tacos.
- Sunset into evening: "Sunset Snacks & Supper Starts" built for sharing, from lemon-pepper scallops to halloumi lettuce cups.
The cocktails are half the fun, with signature pours like The Duchess bursting with color and perfect flavor. It's the kind of menu that works for a leisurely breakfast, a long lunch, or a golden-hour cocktail — and plenty of guests make it all three in a single stay.
When's the best time to go to DIVE?
Sunset is the headliner, and tables fill fast in the hour beforehand. Arrive early or plan ahead! But DIVE is a quiet secret in the daytime too: a peaceful spot for morning coffee with a view, or an unhurried weekday lunch above the treetops. During the holidays, it's a magical perch above a twinkling island, with the Hotel del Coronado lit up just across the street.
Do you have to be a hotel guest to visit DIVE?
Not at all. DIVE welcomes the public as well as guests of The Bower Coronado.
Can I host an event or book for a special occasion at DIVE?
Absolutely, and we encourage you to! Because there's nothing like hosting your loved ones on an entire rooftop or rooftop nook for a private event. We love hosting your birthdays, celebrations, family gatherings, holiday parties, or even providing you with a perfect space to host your sunrise or sunset yoga class. DIVE is flexible - from custom layouts (dancefloor anyone?) to DJs, live music, or a private chef - the world is your oyster.
